ANIMAL WELFARE

Animals are the heart of zoological nuclei and also give us the most direct information to evaluate the success of our designs. At Danaus EthoDesign, we believe in the power of dynamic habitats, as they provide animals with the opportunity to express their natural behaviours. Therefore, these habitats have to promote the innate responses of each species and this is achieved through variable environmental stimuli. These stimuli must be accessible to individuals so that they can use them freely and thus get enclosures that present the complexity of natural ecosystems and do not remain as facilities that only serve to confine animals. Our projects focus on both the evaluation of individuals and the relationship they have with their environment, in order to create a plan of improvement strategically designed in short or long term adapted to the particular needs of each individual. Just as no two animals are alike, there should not be two equal facilities.
