VISITOR EXPERIENCE

We are living in a society where audiovisual culture prevails. People are constantly bombarded with large number of stimuli, making them get used to a constant overstimulation and this is not so easily to be found in zoological nuclei. The designs of the zoos and their facilities are in many cases outdated and do not respond to the cultural needs of the visitor. Nowadays, people are looking for enriching experiences that will excite them and make them to feel transported to the different ecosystems that they can observe in zoos. Thus, it is not enough that the installation looks good, since the view is only one of the five senses, but we must address the design taking into account the rest of the senses. The design of the facilities should thrill and transcend, turning a set of cages into an impressive and integrated landscape that connects the viewer with the animal and makes him feel part of this wild habitat.

Danaus EthoDesign looks for this connection which is generated when the conservation message of a zoological nucleus is expressed in a language of respect and empathy towards animals. Our designs seek to promote facilities where animals act freely and perform their natural behaviours, where visitors can be marvelled of nature without any kind of artifice. These are the keys for visitors to have a positive experience and to ensure that people's opinion about zoos changes during the visit.
