ANIMAL WELFARE STANDARDS

The welfare of animals is not the privilege of a few, but the responsibility of all.

The World Association of Zoos and Aquariums (WAZA) has the mission of providing leadership and support to zoos and aquariums and other associated organizations worldwide (AIZA, EAZA, etc.) in the care and welfare of animals, biodiversity conservation, environmental education and global sustainability. Through the development of quality standards, it seeks to establish protocols that meet the basic requirements that a modern zoo of the 21st century must have.
